clichés and truisms

A cliche is an expression, idea, or element of artistic work that has been overused to the point of losing its originality, impact, or effectiveness. It may have once been fresh and insightful, but through repeated use, it has become predictable or lacking in creativity. Clichés often evoke a sense of familiarity but can also be seen as tired or uninspired.

On the other hand, a truism is a statement that is widely accepted as true, often because it expresses a basic or obvious fact or principle. Truisms are simple, self-evident truths that are universally recognized or acknowledged. They may lack originality or depth but still hold value as concise summaries of common knowledge or wisdom.
